Can't Find My Panties

I'm just popping in with a quick card.. I really like making vintage inspired cards and I do consider "Steampunk" to be a kind of vintage card. I also like that it allows me to use one of my favorite types of cardstock--Kraft.

I started by inking the Cuddlebug "gears" folder with Close To My Heart "Brown Bag" ink and running it through the Big Shot. I then added a row of straight sewing machine stitching to create a border. Using glitter I use the Tim Holtz "Weathered Clock" die to cut a clock face. I also added a 7 Gypsies "gear" and brad as well as three "glittered brads" form Paper Studios. The organza ribbon is from my stash. The image is "Jayne Jetpack" from Kenny and is colored with Copics. She is popped up with foam dots for so added dimension. The sentiment is from Create with TLC and with my twisted sense of humor I thought it fit perfectly with the expression on the digis face. I used a Fiskars oval punch on the sentiment. Finally I added the swirl bling from Recollections that I colored with Copics to match my vintage/Steampunk vibe. I also distressed the mat edges with a Tim Holtz tool.

80's to the Max Birthday Blog Hop

The Corrosive Challenge and Sassy Studio Designs has teamed up to have an "80's to the Max Birthday Blog Hop. SSD has provided up with the most FABULOUS 80's themed digis. You should have arrived her from Ailaine's blog. If you didn't, just click the link and get back on track. If for some reason you didn't start at the beginning, by all means do so. You don't want to miss out on any of the awesome creations that the 80's inspired. Use the list below if you didn't start at the beginning.

How did they figure out that I was, and still am a huge Smurfette fan? I loved coloring this image.

The Smurfette Sassy was printed on Curious Metallics Cryogen White Iridescent paper. She was colored with Copic and Promarkers. The background papers are from the DCWV "Birthday Wishes" stack.

My layout is from Deconstructed Sketch #111. I added sewing machine stitching around the border of the card for some added dimension. The entire time I was constructing the card, the Smurfs theme song was stuck in my head and prompted me to use the "Allegro" Cuddlebug embossing folder. I added die cuts using Spellbinders Nestabilities "Circle and Scalloped Circle." Do you recognize the Kraft cardstock border as mushrooms? After all the Smurfs do live in mushroom houses. I told you I'm a fan. They were cut with the Cricut. I dabbed Tim Holtz Distress Ink in "Vintage Photo" around the. Finally I added foam dots, bling, a bling flower and a sentiment from the "Itty Bitty" line of rubber stamps. The sentiment was added to a pennant die cut from "Die-namics."

Your next stop on the hop should be Maria. I'm sure she has lots of 80's love to show you so be she to hop on over to her blog.

You're Sew Special

Most of my cards include a Copic colored image but I don't want that to be the only kind of card I make. I am an avid sew and when I saw the Sizzix sewing machine die at 40% off, I just had to have it.

The card base is Kraft cardstock. The background papers are from My Minds Eye "Lost and Found." I added Baker's Twine, burlap, lace, a button and pins to keep with the sewing theme. What would a sewing themed card be without some sewing machine stitching? Foam dots were added to add dimension and the Diva in me would not let me create a card without bling. The bling is from Forever In Time. Finally I added a sentiment from one of Docerela's recent releases "Life's A Stitch." I have a few sewing friends that I plan to make cards for. I know they will appreciate receiving sewing themed cards.
